EPICA's Retrospect trailer revealed.
On the 23rd March 2013 the Dutch symphonic metal band EPICA celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a special concert dubbed Retrospect. During this evening the band was accompanied by the seventy piece Extended Reményi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Miskolc National Theatre Choir, playing an unforgettable 3-hours best-of set.
Ten high-definition cameras captured this very special sold-out show while EPICA played in front of nearly five thousand ecstatic fans. In addition to a collection of the band's biggest hits from across the spectrum of their entire catalog, this once-in-a-lifetime spectacular also featured the live debut of "Twin Flames" and the previously unreleased "Retrospect", covers of classics by Vivaldi, Pergolesi, and Oscar-winning film composer John Williams, two guest collaborations with the venerable Floor Jansen (NIGHTWISH, REVAMP), and a very special performance of their breakthrough single "Quietus" with founding members Jeroen Simons, Ad Sluijter and Yves Huts.

Retrospect will be released as a deluxe hardcover book with 36 pages, both as a 2DVD/3CD and 2Blu-ray/3CD version, on the 8th November through Nuclear Blast.

I'm really sorry to say that,but the voice-over is kind of irritating!We can read! Plus I know it's a big deal,but it's not a hollywood movie to need that much presentation! The video and the subttles would have worked perfecty! I'm saying that with all my love for you and the band! I'm looking forword for the retrospect as i'm sure it'll be awesome!

ReplyDeleteI was there in Eindhoven and it was amazing, one of the best things I've ever seen. Never going to forget the moment the carpet dropped the first time, my mouth literally dropped open too. I was stunned!

ReplyDeleteI bought the mega merch bundle pre-order, I've been teatotal for months now & decided to treat myself to it. You will have a sore hand signing all the merch Simone. Sadly I could not attend Retrospect in person. I'm forever greatful to Epica & Live music stage for the live stream. I had a shitty isp back then (fuck talk talk broadband up the arsehole) so the video quality was terrible for me, although the audio was in perfect quality. It will be epic to expreince that beautiful night once more, this time in 1080p HD with surround sound.

I'm also waiting for Alestorm's live DVD, that is going to be badass too. They are local heroes around here. I'm seeing Chris from Alestorm's side project Gloryhammer tonight in Glasgow. I recomend them highly. Have you heard their album "Tales from the Kingdom of Fife"? It makes me feel heroic hearing it.

I am so excitted about the release, as living in New York City this is the first time i can purchase an Epica DVD, so excited that in North America there is a hoodie tee bundle, so I can represent my favorite band to the max. It so nice to see musicans who care about their music and who does not need any type of gimmicks and rely on their fellow musicans, like you mentioned in interviews, Epica with choir and orchestra is the ideal way for you guys to perform. So proud that you guys lasted 10 years.
ReplyDeleteMore than anything else excited about the 3 cds, so I can upload them to my Ipod, I love Epica's music videos, and will love watching this concert many times, but in reality will listen to the actual songs on my ipod so much more times. I believe that after a month of me getting this album, Epica will have atleast 65 songs on my top 100 song playlist.
Very excited that Epica is working on new album, cannot wait for that, when you tour in USA, i might follow you guys around, if you go into NYC that will be difinte for me, with VIP Tickets.
